• [S2] Johnson, Ina. Johnson information received at the 1991 Dutton Family Reunion in Springfield, Vermont. This document consists of one handwritten page of notebook paper, written on both sides. The material is very specific, distinguishes between facts the writer is sure of and those she merely "believes," and has several burial items. It has the name, address, and signature of Ina Johnson, although I do not believe she attended the reunion herself.

There are two problems with this census. First, although it appears on its face that Zopher and his wife Adeline are easily identified, there are enough discrepancies in the household's information to be unsettling. Second, the first name of the male Williams is indecipherable. It is possible that it is "Samuel", and I have accepted it as such, but this should be regarded more as a conclusion from other evidence than as this census record providing evidence in its own right.

  • [S210] Debra Kern, Town Clerk of Wing River, Wadena County, Minnesota, in two telephone calls from the author 23 February 2004. According to Clerk Kern, the records in her possession cover only the minutes of town business. They do not include vital records, land sales, or any other type of entry not directly tied to the town as a governmental body. The following records that possibly relate to persons named Dutton were found:

1880 - "P[illeg.] W. Dutton" ran for Justice of the Peace. He received one vote and was not elected.

Spring 1882 - "P.W. Dutton" received 17 votes and was elected Town Clerk.

March and April, 1882 - "P.W. Dutton" failed to file the required bond to take the office of Town Clerk. The incumbent, John Barton, was appointed to remain in office.

1886 - "Mary M. Dutton" was served verbal notice for an undetermined reason. Her name appears in a list of those so served.
