Betsey was born on 8 July 1788.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Stephen Dutton and Betsey Hartwell. Betsey was probably in Stephen Dutton's household in the 1791 Census taken in Chester, Windsor County, Vermont.5 Betsey was probably age 10 and under 16 in Stephen Dutton's household in the 1800 Census taken in Chester.6 Betsey was probably age 16 and under 26 in Stephen Dutton's household in the 1810 Census taken in Chester.7 As a child she was "warned out" of Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, on 29 November 1814 with Stephen Dutton.8,9 She was a resident in the household of Edith Dutton in the 1850 census taken in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, age 57.10 She worked in a mill in Lowell, Mass. for many years.11,10 She was a head of household in the 6 July 1870 census taken in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, age 80, keeping house (her personal property was valued at $400, the equivalent of $5,300 in the year 2000); Hannah Hall resided in the same household, age 55, keeping house (her personal property was valued at $2,500, the equivalent of $32,900 in the year 2000).12 Betsey died following 13 February 1872 in Bartonsville, Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont.13,14 Betsey died unmarried.15,16
