John was born in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 2 March 1655/56.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of Thomas Dutton and Susannah (--?--). Sergeant John Dutton resided in Billerica, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, by 1675 to 1735. "He lived on the north side of the Andover road, near the corner, where Mr. Eben Baker" lived in 1883.2,7 He married Sarah Shedd in Billerica, Mass., on 20 September 1681.8,9,6 He was a sergeant in one of the Billerica military companies.10 He married Ruth (--?--) in Billerica, Mass., in May 1721.11,12,6 John died on 7 April 1735 in Billerica, Mass., at age 79.13,14,6
