6-greats-grandfather of Darrell Allen Martin.
Daniel was born probably in New London, New London County, Connecticut, on 31 August 1691.1,2 He was the son of Daniel Darte and Elizabeth Douglass. Daniel Darte Junior was christened on 15 September 1695 in New London, Conn.. He married Jemimah Shaylor probably in Bolton, Tolland County, Connecticut, on 13 April 1719.3 He moved, probably after his marriage to Jemimah, to Gilsum, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.4 After living in Gilsum, N.H. for some years he returned to Bolton, Tolland County, Connecticut, where his family record is found.4 Daniel died on 9 February 1771 in Bolton, Conn., at age 79.5 He was buried in Bolton, Conn..6

A daughter named Margaret, supposedly born in 1725 in Bolton, Conn., is sometimes added to his children but I judge this to be an error. The same may be said of a son named Nathaniel, supposedly born in 1729 in Bolton, Conn., and not the same as the Nathaniel born in 1738; and a daughter Lucy, supposedly born in 1743, and not the same as the Lucy born in 1735.7
