Derrick was born in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, on 5 January 1905.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He was the son of Herbert William Dutton and Lillie Mae Felch. Derrick Allen Dutton appears in a photograph taken circa 1906 in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont. He was a resident in the household of Herbert William Dutton in the 9 June 1910 census taken in Springfield age 4, his son.8 He was a resident in the household of Herbert William Dutton in the 31 January 1920 census taken in Springfield a student age 15, his son.9 Derrick Allen Dutton graduated in June 1925 from Springfield High School in Springfield. He married Ruth Alice Williams in Springfield on 1 October 1925.10,11,12 He was a farmer in 192813. Derrick Allen Dutton resided with Ruth Alice Williams in Springfield on 25 August 1928.13

A photograph was taken of him and his wife Ruth Alice Williams in the southwest corner room of the family farmhouse in Springfield on 1 October 1950. It was at the celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. He married Louise Ellen Williams (MacInnes) in Springfield on 8 May 1982.14 Derrick died on 6 May 1985 in Springfield at age 80.15,16 He was buried on 9 May 1985 in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

  12. [S167] One of the eight people at Derrick and Ruth's wedding was Caroline "Gram" Randall. She was a family friend; my mother remembers her coming to pick berries at the farm. She was the next-to-last literal Daughter of the American Revolution. Her father was a waterboy in the Continental Army, and married very late in life. My mother visited her on occasion and saw some of the very many cards she would receive on holidays and her birthday.
