Eliza was born in New Hampshire on 22 April 1812. There are irreconcilable discrepancies in the records as to Eliza's birth date.1,2,3,4,5,6 She was the daughter of Enoch Nelson and Lydia? Pike. She married William N. Gardner in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, on 15 April 1829. William was 23, and Eliza was just a few days short of 17 years old.7,8,9,10,11 She was "of" Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, on 15 April 1829.10 Eliza was probably enumerated as age 20 and under 30 in William N. Gardner's household in the 1830 Census of in Ryegate, Caledonia County, Vermont.12 Eliza was probably enumerated as age 30 to under 40 in William N. Gardner's household in the 1840 Census of in Newbury. She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner in the 6 August 1850 census taken in Newbury as "Eliza Gardiner" age 38.8 She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner in the 4 August 1860 census taken in Newbury as "Eliza Gardiner" age 48.9 She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner in the 7 June 1870 census taken in Newbury as "Eliza Gardner" keeping house at age 57.7 She was a resident in the household of Allen Downing Felch in the 7 June 1880 census taken in Newbury as "Eliza Gardner" age 64, his widowed mother in law.13 Eliza died following 1880.
