Nathan was born say 1755. He was the son of Joseph Hodgman Senior and Abigail Piper. After 1790, Nathan's brother Joseph Junior "squatted" on land "in Springfield line", probably near where Nathan had been living in Chester, Windsor County, Vermont for some time.
