Sarah was born say 1755. She was the daughter of Samuel Lawrence and Mary Avery. She married Joseph Hodgman Junior in Mason, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, on 5 February 1777. Sarah was probably in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1790 Census taken in Raby, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.1 Sarah was probably age 26 and under 45 in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1800 Census taken in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont.2 Sarah was probably age 45 or over in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1810 Census taken in Springfield.3 Sarah was probably age 45 or over in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1820 Census taken in Springfield.4 Sarah died on 10 April 1841 in Springfield. She was buried in the same grave as her husband in Springfield.
