Joseph Alanson Dean

Joseph was born in Cavendish, Windsor County, Vermont, on 2 January 1825.1 He was "of" Chester, Windsor County, Vermont, on 3 July 1847.2 He married Arvilla Maria Dutton in Cavendish on 3 July 1847.3,4,5 He was a head of household in the 17 September 1850 census taken in Grafton, Windham County, Vermont, age 25, a laborer; Arvilla Maria Dutton resided in the same household, as "Arvilla M. Dean" age 23; as did Martha Arvilla Dean, age 2; and Ellen L. Dean, age 18 (in error). Joseph relocated to Genoa, Livingston County, Michigan circa 1855.6 Joseph was a farmer.7 He was a head of household in the 4 June 1860 census taken in Genoa, Livingston County, Michigan, age 35, a farmer; Arvilla Maria Dutton resided in the same household, as "Arvilla Dean", age 33; as did Martha Arvilla Dean, age 12; Ellen L. Dean, age 10; Sarah E. Dean, age 9; and Stephen Joseph Dean, as "Joseph L." age 2.8 He was a head of household in the 25 July 1870 census taken in Genoa, Mich., age 48, a farmer; Arvilla Maria Dutton resided in the same household, as "Arvilla M. Dean" age 45, keeping house; as did Ellen L. Dean, age 20; Sarah E. Dean, age 19; Stephen Joseph Dean, as "Joseph S." age 12; and Jasper J. Dean, age 5. He was a head of household in the 1880 census taken in Genoa, Mich., age 55, a farmer; Arvilla Maria Dutton resided in the same household, as "Arvilla Dean" age 53, keeping house; as did Sarah E. Dean, age 29; Stephen Joseph Dean, as "Stephen" age 22; and Jasper J. Dean, age 15.8 He was a resident in the household of Stephen Joseph Dean in the 7 June 1900 census taken in Genoa, Mich., age 75.
