Henry was born in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, on 30 July 1846.^1,2,3 He was the son of Edward Lawrence Dutton and Jerusha A. Hopkins. He was a resident in the household of Edward Lawrence Dutton in the 1850 census taken in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, age 4.⁴ He was "of" Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on 3 July 1875.⁵ He married Olive Maria Dutton on 3 July 1875.⁶ Henry Dutton's only sibling died before age 3, as did at least four of his six children. Henry died on 27 February 1930 at age 83.⁷
