Patrick was born in Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, on 14 June 1955.1 As of his birth, Patrick Michael Goldsmith was named Patrick Michael McHale. He is the son of John Robert McHale and Patricia Ruth Moore. He was adopted, circa 1968 probably in Oakland County Michigan, as Patrick Michael Goldsmith, by William Edward Goldsmith (who was married to Patrick's mother Patricia (Moore) (McHale) (Mansfield) Goldsmith). He married Anita Ruth Martin in the Orchard United Methodist Church in Farmington Hills, Oakland County, Michigan, on 23 April 1983.2 Patrick was divorced from Anita Ruth Martin in Tennessee on 6 November 2002.3
