Shirley was born in Clarendon, Rutland County, Vermont, on 5 July 1932.1,2 She was the daughter of Alfred John Martin and Ruby D. Balch. Shirley was nicknamed Little Shirley. She married Daniel V. Turco say 1955.1 Shirley died of cancer in November 1995 at age 63.
