Luella was born in Vermont circa 1834.1,2 She was a resident in the household of Edson X. Pierce in the 6 June 1860 census taken in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, as "Lewella Dart" a school teacher age 25.3 She was a resident in the household of Sybil Dartt in the 1870 census taken in Springfield a milliner age 36.4,5
