Arnold was born in Mount Holly, Rutland County, Vermont, on 28 August 1914.1,2 He was the son of William Henry Martin and Sarah Marie LaPlante. Arnold was nicknamed Stubby. He was a resident in the household of William Henry Martin in the 17 January 1920 census taken in Mt. Holly as "Arnold J." age 5, his son.3 He married Lucille Holden say 1940. Arnold died on 3 March 1982 in Evergreen Hospital in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont, at age 67.
