Ephraim was born in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, in 1672.1 He was the son of Thomas Welles and Mary Beardsley. He married Abigail Allis on 23 January 1696/97. He resided in New London, New London County, Connecticut and Colchester, Conn.
