He arrived in New England in 1631 with his father and the rest of the family, sailing on the Lyon. He removed to Ipswich with them in 1633. At Ipswich he owned Sagamore Hill, but exchanged this property with his brother John for a house in town. After a few years in Ipswich, he removed to Topsfield. He was chosen one of the Selectmen of Topsfield in 1675/6, 1676/7, and 1681/2. He was Deacon of the Topsfield Church before March 1676/7 and continued in that position for many years, during which he served both church and town in various other capacities as well. He was a farmer by occupation. Thomas was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England, probably April 1622.1 He was the son of John Perkins and Judith Gater. He was baptized in Hillmorton Parish, Warks., Eng., on 28 April 1622.2 He married Phebe Gould in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, circa 1640.3 Thomas died on 7 May 1686.
