Ancy was born in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, on 10 September 1842.1,2,3,4,5 She was the daughter of Stephen Hartwell Dutton and Lemira Hodgman. She was a resident in the household of Stephen Hartwell Dutton, age 7, in the 21 August 1850 census taken in Rockingham.6 She was a resident in the household of Stephen Hartwell Dutton in the 13 June 1860 census taken in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, doing housework age 18.7 She married Warren F. Severance on 20 August 1861.8,9 According to family tradition, Ancy's son Derrick Dutton Severance went to get the doctor the night Derrick Allen Dutton was born, hence the name. Ancy died on 2 February 1921 in Bartonsville, Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, at age 78.10
