Deacon William Goodhue

(say 1605 - following 1692)

William was born say 1605. He married Margery Watson say 1630. He was one of the earliest settlers of Ipswich, MA and a prominent citizen, a representative in the Colonial Assembly eight times from 1666 to 1683. He was imprisoned by Governor Andros for resisting illegal taxation. In 1692 a "Mr. Goodhue Sen." was licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. William died following 1692.
