Nancy was born in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, on 17 April 1840.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Stephen Hartwell Dutton and Lemira Hodgman. Nancy was probably age under 5 in Stephen Hartwell Dutton's household in the 1840 Census taken in Rockingham.4 She was a resident in the household of Stephen Hartwell Dutton in the 21 August 1850 census taken in Rockingham a student age 10.5 She married Benjamin F. Putnam on 31 August 1861.6,7 She married Thomas Madigan on 14 June 1885.8 Nancy died in April 1901 in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont.9
