5-greats-granduncle of Darrell Allen Martin.
Thomas was born in Lunenburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts, on 18 March 1749/50.2 He was the son of Thomas Dutton IV and Mary Hill. He married Bethia (--?--) circa 1776.3 Thomas Dutton V resided in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, on 23 June 1777.4 This Thomas "V" may have been the one in the second June, 1777, list "of those who have taken the Oath of Alegance or affirmation formed by the Late Convention held at Windsor"; however, it is also possible that the "Thos Dutton" on the second list is Thomas "IV", and the entry is a duplicate of the one on pg. 5 (the Roman numerals are for my convenience, and are not found in contemporary documents). Still, of the 21 second list entries 8 are not found on the first, and 2 are questionable. Silas can be identified with some assurance as Thomas IV's son and therefore Thomas V's brother. I conclude, very tentatively, that the elder Thomas is on the first list and two of his sons on the second. (It is also possible that BOTH lists are one person, either way--this is not very firm ground.) 5. He was among those "of ye 3d Draught" who "Recd the amenition" in Rockingham on an unspecified date6. A "Thomas Duttons Child" died 7 July 1777, James Dutton died 2 December 1777, and Mary Dutton died 6 December 1777, all in Rockingham. Whose children are not stated, but this Thomas would be a likely candidate for father of one or more of them.7

Children of Thomas Dutton V and Bethia (--?--)
