Great-great-granduncle of Darrell Allen Martin.
Plynn was born in Manchester, Bennington County, Vermont, on 27 August 1824.1,2,3 He was the son of Stephen Hartwell Dutton and Lemira Hodgman. Plynn was probably age 5 and under 10 in Stephen Hartwell Dutton's household in the 1830 Census taken in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont.4 Plynn was probably age 15 and under 20 in Stephen Hartwell Dutton's household in the 1840 Census taken in Rockingham.5 He was enumerated as "Plyn W. Dutton" age 23, born "Vt" in the 25 September 1850 census taken in Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. as "Plyn W. Dutton" age 23, born "Vt." He married Hannah Aldrich say 1855. He married Sarah McAldrich prior to 1860. It is at least possible, if not likely, that Sarah McAldrich is the same person as Hannah Aldrich.6 He was a head of household in the 9 August 1860 census taken in Centralia, Wood County, Wisconsin, a blacksmith age 37; Sarah McAldrich resided in the same household, as "Sarah M. Dutton" age 26.7 I have not found an 1870 census entry for Plynn.8 He married Mary Margaret Keeler in Wadena County, Minnesota, in November 1879. In 1880 "P[illeg.] W. Dutton" ran for Justice of the Peace in Wing River, Wadena County, Minnesota. He received one vote and was not elected.9 He was a head of household in the 1880 census taken in Wing River, Minn., a farmer age 55; Mary Margaret Keeler resided in the same household, his wife, keeping house age 45; as did Henry Ellison Estabrooks, his stepson, a farmer age 25; George K. Estabrooks, his stepson, working on the farm age 18; and Homer Dutton, his "ward", age 6. In 1882 he was elected Town Clerk in Wing River, Minn. with 17 votes.10 He didn't file bond, and never took office.11 Plynn died on 15 May 1883 probably in Minnesota at age 58.12,13,14,15

According to Densmore, Plynn was twice married, went to "Wisconsin", and died there. He was a blacksmith, and had a remarkable memory. When the "Dutton Genealogy" was typed, the family had lost track of his whereabouts.16
