Kay's High School Graduation picture, 1946      Kathelyn was born in Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont, on 25 August 1928.1,2,3,4 Her name was a source of contention between her parents, and probably other family members as well. Her mother wanted to name her "Kathleen," after what was believed at the time to be her maternal grandmother's birth name. This was simply too Irish to be accepted by the "Old Yankee" Duttons. Some Green Mountains granite had apparently taken up residence in more than one head, because the situation was not resolved until a full two months after the birth. "Kathelyn," which was invented for the purpose, appears to have been acceptable because it was close enough to "Kathleen" that her mother did not have to surrender the main point, but was not Irish and therefore was palatable to her father. It turns out that Kathelyn's grandmother's birth name was actually "Catherine." The name is found among the Duttons as well, and had it been known in 1928 there would never have been a squabble. She is the daughter of Derrick Allen Dutton and Ruth Alice Williams. Kathelyn was nicknamed Kay. She graduated on 17 June 1946 from Springfield High School in Springfield.5 She married Clifton Carroll Martin in Springfield, on 31 July 1948.6,7 Kathelyn Mae Dutton resided with Clifton Carroll Martin at 29 Dewey Street in Springfield, on 16 September 1949.8 Her son Darrell was born on 16 September 1949 in Springfield.9,10,11,12,13 The family moved 20 December 1950 to what would later be the garage of the home they were building in the Dutton District in Springfield, on two acres of land purchased from Kathelyn's grandfather Herbert Dutton. Her son Curtis was born on 9 December 1951 in Springfield.14 Her son Bradley was born on 30 October 1956 in Springfield.15 Her daughter Anita was born on 23 April 1958 in Springfield.16 In the summer of 1967, the family removed to to Union Lake, Oakland County, Michigan when Bryant Computer Products was moved by its parent Excello Corporation. In 1970 the family moved to in Walled Lake, Oakland County, Michigan. In 1986 they moved to in Commerce Township, Oakland County, Michigan.
