Rebecca was born in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, on 24 August 1852.1,2 She was the daughter of William N. Gardner and Eliza Nelson. She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner, a student age 8, in the 4 August 1860 census taken in Newbury, a student age 8.3 She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner in the 7 June 1870 census taken in Newbury, age 17.4 Rebecca died in 1875.
