| John was born in Vermont, circa 1819.1,2 He was the son of Abraham Gibson and Catherine Palmer. He was a head of household in the 13 September 1850 census taken in Shrewsbury, Rutland County, Vermont, a farmer age 31; his real estate was valued at $2,500, the equivalent of $54,300 in the year 2000; Catherine Palmer resided in the same household, as "Catharine Gibson" age 62; as did Lucinda Palmer, as "Lucinda Gibson" age 51; and Lucinda (--?--), as "Lucinda Gibson" a student age 15.3 He married Harriet (--?--) say 1855.4,5,6 He was a head of household in the 1860 census taken in Shrewsbury, a farmer age 40; his real estate was valued at $4,500 and his personal property at $1,500, the equivalent of $122,400 (total) in the year 2000; Harriet (--?--) resided in the same household, as "Harriet Gibson" age 30; as did Catherine Palmer, as "Catherine Gibson" age 72; Lawrence Fagan, a farm laborer age 21; Miranda Whitney, a servant age 17; and Lyman Stillwell, age 12.4 John P. Gibson resided with a person not included in this site in Shrewsbury, on 22 December 1874.7 |
