Kim was born in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, on 9 August 1961.1 She is the daughter of Edward Felix McCarthy Junior and Phyllis Allene Lanpher. Kim Ellen McCarthy graduated in 1979 from Saint Benedict's Academy in Erie, Penn..2 She married William David Robison on 21 September 1986.3 Kim was divorced from William David Robison in 1992.4 She has not remarried.5
