Edward was born in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont, on 15 February 1928.1 He was the son of Edward Felix McCarthy Senior and Lillian Campbell. Edward was nicknamed "Mac".2 He graduated in 1946? From Northfield High School in Northfield where he played basketball. "His yearbook has a note: Best wishes to Mac and 'the love of his life' Phyl."3 He may have served in the U.S. Navy.4 "He was employed as a special agent for the Factory Insurance Association of Pittsburgh for 18 years."2 He married Phyllis Allene Lanpher on 15 May 1948.5 He married (-----) (Withheld). He had one niece (Pat Kickham) and two nephews.6,7 Edward died from a brain aneurysm on 16 January 1966 at age 37.8,9 He was buried in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. in Lakeside Cemetery (or possibly Eastlake Cemetery).10

He played the trumpet, and at one point drove a red 1958 Chevy.
