Elizabeth was born in Vermont, circa 1824.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Michael Cross and Betsey (--?--). She married ? Wheaton say 1846.4 She was a resident in the household of Michael Cross in the 30 July 1850 census taken in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, as "Elizabeth Wheaton" age 26.5 She married Horatio W. H. Gardner in Newbury, circa 1854.6,7 She was a resident in the household of Horatio W. H. Gardner in the 14 August 1860 census taken in Newbury, as "Elizabath Gardner" age 36.6 She was a resident in the household of Horatio W. H. Gardner in the 9 June 1870 census taken in Newbury, as "Elizabeth Gardner" keeping house at age 45.7
