Abbie was born in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, on 10 August 1847.1 She was the daughter of William N. Gardner and Eliza Nelson. She was a resident in the household of William N. Gardner in the 4 August 1860 census taken in Newbury, as "Abba E." a student age 13.2 She married ? Nelson in Iowa. Abbie died prior to 1903.
