Otis was born in 1795. He was the son of Joseph Hodgman Junior and Sarah Lawrence. Otis was probably under 10 years old in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1800 Census taken in Springfield, Windsor County, Vermont.1 Otis was probably age 10 and under 16 in Joseph Hodgman Junior's household in the 1810 Census taken in Springfield.2 He married Dolly Mansfield in Springfield on 18 March 1815.3 He was "warned out" of Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont, on 27 May 1816.4 He married Ellen Stoneham in Springfield on 16 March 1846. Otis died in 1855 in Charlestown, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
