Joanna (--?--)
(say 1665 - 1 August 1692)

Joanna was born say 1665. She married John Dunkin say 1685.1 She married Benjamin Dutton in Billerica, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 1 July 1690.2,3,4,5 Hazen, pg. 45, says she "was killed, with 2 children, by the Indians" but does not identify the children. VR Billerica, pg. 357, gives two Dutton deaths besides Johanna " 'slaine by ye indians' Aug. 1, [16]92." They are "Benoni, s. Benj[amin] and Johanna" and "Mary, d. Benj[amin] and Johanna." Although there is--barely--time enough for both children to be born to Benjamin and Joanna between their marriage and her death with the children, neither child's birth is recorded to them. They were almost certainly Joanna's children by her former husband. Joanna died "slaine by ye indians" on 1 August 1692 in Billerica, Mass..6,7
