Karen was born in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont, on 29 June 1972.1 She is the daughter of Paul Bertram Dutton and Aleda Gayle Brown. She married Gregory Knapp Junior in the bride's parents' home in Castleton, Rutland County, Vermont, on 8 August 1992. She married Brian Dale Reid on 7 October 1995.
