Richard Warren Martin
(23 September 1930 - )
3 gen navigation 3 gen. navigation
Uncle of Darrell Allen Martin.

Richard was born in Mount Holly, Rutland County, Vermont, on 23 September 1930.1,2 He is the son of Clifton Oliver Martin and Annis Lizzie LaQue. Richard Warren Martin was often called Rick or Ricky. He had a serious heart problem as a child, which affected his schooling and prevented him from being drafted during World War II, or so the story goes. However, based on his age, I wonder if perhaps the Korean War might be more like it.3 He married Coralie Beatrice Davis in the Parsonage of the Ludlow Baptist Church in Ludlow, Windsor County, Vermont, on 5 June 1954.

     Appears on these charts:
          10-generation descendants of Oliver Martin

Child of Richard Warren Martin and Coralie Beatrice Davis:
Gregory Richard Martin   (8 Aug 1959 - )

Cited documentation:

  1. [S67] Probable informant Elizabeth Shirley Julia (Martin) Round, Martin and LaPlante family oral traditions.
  2. [S26] Elm School, Attendance records, Mount Holly, Rutland County, Vermont; 1938-39, 1940-41, and 1941-42, age given as "7 Yr. 11 Mo. Sept. 1, 1938 (grade II)"; as "10 Yr. 11 Mo. Sept. 1, 1940 (grade 4)"; and as "11 Yr. 0 Mo. Sept. 1, 1941 (grade 4)". The '38 age is correct. The 41-42 year notes "Transferred to Hortonville. [UL:no date:UL]"
  3. [S149] My father, Clifton C. Martin, has told me many times about Richard's health problems as a child (his heart, I believe) which affected his schooling and prevented military service in World War II.
The author strongly cautions the reader about making any assumption concerning the existence of uncited documentation (whether the assumption is that it does exist -- or that it does not).
