Samuel Cyril Dutton

| Samuel was born in Grafton, Windham County, Vermont, on 29 October 1831.1,2,3 He was the son of Stephen Hartwell Dutton and Lemira Hodgman. Samuel was probably age 5 and under 10 in Stephen Hartwell Dutton's household in the 1840 Census taken in Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont.4 He was a resident in the household of Stephen Hartwell Dutton in the 21 August 1850 census taken in Rockingham, a student and laborer age 18.5 He married Dorothy Kyle on 2 July 1856.6,7 He enlisted, from Rockingham, in Company G of the 11th Vermont Volunteers.8 Samuel died of pneumonia on 3 September 1862 at Camp Holbrook in Brattleboro, Windham County, Vermont, at age 30. His Union Army service apparently never got him out of Vermont.9,10 He was buried in Saxtons River, Rockingham, Windham County, Vermont.11 |
