Lula was born say 1860.1 She was the daughter of Edwin Frank Bailey and Mary (--?--). She married Allen Downing Felch in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, on 9 April 1906.1,2,3 Lula died "she was ... raking and burning leaves when her dress caught fire & she burned to death" on 5 April 1910 in Newbury.4,5

Cited documentation:

  1. [S6] Bailey, Edwin F., 1910 Census Newbury, VT.
  2. [S221] Haas, 26 Jul 1996, "He later married Lula Bailey (I think??)" -- the author has put Allen's second and third wives out of order.
  3. [S167] The evidence that Lula Bailey was Allen's second wife, and Bertha his third, is undermined but not overturned by Allen being buried in "the Bailey lot."
  4. [S221] Haas, 26 Jul 1996, the author recounts the story of burning to death while raking leaves, without any date, and misidentifies the victim as Bertha. See documentation for Allen Felch's marriages.
  5. [S6] Bailey, Edwin F., 1910 Census Newbury, VT, in which her husband appears as Edwin Bailey's widower son-in-law.
The author strongly cautions the reader about making any assumption concerning the existence of uncited documentation (whether the assumption is that it does exist -- or that it does not).
